Roman Reigns’ WWE WrestleMania 42 Opponent Revealed
Roman Reigns has headlined most WrestleManias for WWE.
His match against CM Punk and Seth Rollins on Night 1 of WrestleMania 41 was his tenth main event at the Greatest Show of Them All.
Since 2020, the 40-year-old has become a crowd puller, a reason for it being his Head of the Table gimmick, which has now transitioned into the Original Tribal Chief.
Being one of the company’s top stars, he is expected to feature at WrestleMania 42 as well in Las Vegas.
According to a report by Dave Meltzer, WWE had plans to feature Seth Rollins as Roman Reigns’ opponent. However, whether or not the plan will go through amid Rollins’ recent injury remains to be seen.
During the recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Meltzer reported the following.
Seth Rollins was tentatively scheduled to wrestle Roman Reigns at WrestleMania. I don’t know this, but I have been told enough things to where I expected that there would be a turn on Seth Rollins at some point, because the whole thing with this thing, with this faction, was not about Seth Rollins.
Is Roman Reigns Growing Out Of Favor With WWE?
Roman Reigns had an evening to forget at Crown Jewel after losing to Bronson Reed in an Australian Street Fight.
While nothing has been officially confirmed, Reigns seems to have grown out of favour with WWE and Triple H.
His most recent appearances at PLEs, including Clash in Paris and Crown Jewel, have been opening matches. This shift may be a sign that the top brass may be in search of alternate main-eventers.
Furthermore, Reigns is a veteran in the promotion as compared to Bronson Reed, and his loss to ‘Auszilla’ has raised many eyebrows.
WWE has also failed to land a prevailing storyline with him. His second rivalry with Solo Sikoa ended quickly, while the ongoing issues with The Vision did not generate much buzz.
Roman Reigns taking on more Hollywood projects could also be another reason.
