Roman Reigns “Heated” At Kevin Owens After WarGames Match Due To Unplanned Spot
Roman Reigns was apparently about a spot during the Men’s WarGames match at Survivor Series due to something involving Kevin Owens.
The main event of WWE Survivor Series was the Men’s WarGames match. It was a 5-on-5 double ring surrounded by a steel cage with the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns leading The Bloodline’s Solo Sikoa, The Usos (Jimmy & Jey Uso) and Sami Zayn into battle against The Brawling Brutes team of Sheamus, Drew McIntyre, Kevin Owens, Ridge Holland & Butch.
In the final moments of the match, Zayn proved his loyalty to The Bloodline by stopping the referee’s count while Owens had Reigns pinned. Zayn also hit Owens with a low blow and Helluva Kick leading to Jey Uso hitting a top rope Uso Splash on Owens for the pinfall win. After the match, Zayn was hugged by Reigns and Jey, who was reluctant to accept Zayn in the group since he was not a blood relative of the four other wrestlers in the group.
Even though The Bloodline won the match, Roman Reigns wasn’t happy backstage after the match, according to a new report from Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select (available via subscription).
The story from Fightful Select noted that Reigns was visibly upset because of a spot in the match involving Owens. There was apparently an unplanned spot between Owens and Reigns during the match. When he got backstage, Reigns had some “expletive-filled” comments to let everybody know that Reigns wasn’t happy because Reigns apparently wanted the spot to go just as it was originally planned. Reigns also mentioned that he may have suffered a ruptured eardrum as well.
It was not mentioned what specific spot led to Reigns being upset. During the match, Owens hit Reigns with a superkick and Popup Powerbomb, which used to be his old finishing move. Owens also hit a Stunner on Reigns for a two count, which was when Zayn stopped the referee’s count. They also exchanged strikes during the match, so it could have been during that exchange.
As the report from Fightful continued, it was noted that those that Fightful spoke to didn’t believe that there will be any heat between Reigns and Owens because it was something that just happened during a big match. Others within WWE, including talent, believe that Reigns and Owens should be able to coexist moving forward.
Lastly, Reigns was originally scheduled to appear at the post-Survivor Series press conference that aired on WWE’s Youtube channel after the show. However, he did not make an appearance while Paul Heyman and Sami Zayn were there to represent The Bloodline and talk to the media.
NOTE: We have an update on this story that was posted late Monday night nothing that there is apparently “no lingering issue” following what happened between Reigns and Owens.
