Roman Reigns “Got Hurt” At SummerSlam
Roman Reigns might have won at SummerSlam but it came at a cost.
SummerSlam saw the latest chapter of The Bloodline’s saga unfold as Roman Reigns retained his WWE Universal Championship in the main event against Jey Uso. But that win was not without drama as Jimmy Uso returned after being taken out by Reigns and Solo Sikoa to side with The Tribal Chief and cost his twin brother the title.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio Dave Meltzer discussed with Bryan Alvarez that Roman Reigns got hurt during his SummerSlam bout:
“Roman Reigns got hurt in that match. Do you know the spot where he got hurt? [Alvarez: I didn’t even know he got hurt until I saw your text message]. Yeah Roman Reigns got hurt in the match, and I haven’t watched the beginning of the match over again, but I heard it was relatively early. He got hurt. I don’t know the nature of the injury, just that he was hurt. He worked the match and he got hurt early in the match.”
Will Roman Reigns be on SmackDown?
Meltzer then speculated about Reigns’ schedule going forward in 2023 and notes that his status for the next two WWE PLEs remains uncertain but he will be on SmackDown on the 11th of August:
“I don’t know what his schedule is, but he’s going to be on the show on Friday night. I presume he will be on Survivor Series, I don’t know that as a fact. I am sure that he will be on the Saudi show. As far as the next 2 pay-per-views, I don’t know the answer to that yet. I guess Friday we will find out.”
Dave Meltzer also gave his thoughts on Brock Lesnar’s status in the company following SummerSlam and how long he is likely to be gone from WWE screens.
