Ric Flair Returning To AEW For Special Tribute
Ric Flair will be back on AEW television as part of a special tribute to his former partner, who recently passed away.
Former WCW star and Chicago Bears star Steve ‘Mongo’ McMichael recently passed away after a long battle with ALS.
After his NFL career ended, McMichael appeared as part of New York Giants legend Lawrence Taylor’s entourage in the main event of WrestleMania 11 in 1995.
Later that year, in September 1995, McMichael signed with WCW as an announcer. He became a wrestler a year later and even joined Ric Flair and the Four Horsemen. McMichael worked for WCW until early 1999, capturing the US Title on one occasion. He was inducted into the Professional Football Hall of Fame in 2024.
Ric Flair Back In AEW
Ric Flair led the tributes to McMichael on social media following his death, and now The Nature Boy will get the chance to pay tribute to his friend on AEW television.
During a special Thursday night Collision, Tony Schiavone announced that on Collision Beach Break in Chicago, AEW will hold a tribute to Steve McMichael, with Ric Flair announced to be in attendance.
The only other match announced for Collision Beach Break on May 17 will see Megan Bayne take on Anna Jay.
