Rey Mysterio’s WWE Future Confirmed
Rey Mysterio is not going anywhere as the former World Heavyweight Champion has signed a brand new contract with WWE.
It had been reported previously that Dominik Mysterio has signed a new WWE contract, meaning that fans will get to see the relationship between him and his ‘mami’ Rhea Ripley continue.
Now Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer has reported that WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio has penned a new WWE contract as well. Mysterio returned to WWE in late 2018, signing a deal with the company just two weeks after appearing at the famed All In show.
Rey Mysterio’s WWE Career Stretches Back Decades
Prior to that Rey Mysterio had originally joined WWE in 2002 following the demise of WCW the year before. Mysterio went on to win the 2006 Royal Rumble followed by the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 22 in hugely emotional moments as they came just weeks after the death of Eddie Guerrero.
Mysterio won that title again in 2010 and then the WWE Championship in 2011. The latter reign lasted less than an episode of Raw as he won a tournament to crown a new champion before losing the gold to John Cena. The tournament was necessary as CM Punk had won the WWE Title at that year’s Money In The Bank from Cena before walking out of the company. Rey Mysterio left WWE in February 2015 after his contract expired leading to three years on the independent scene.
Rey Mysterio is currently out of action after knee surgery but was in the corner of Dragon Lee as he won the NXT North American Title from Dominik Mysterio at Deadline.
