Rey Mysterio’s Title Reign Slammed As “Sad”
Rey Mysterio has not impressed one WWE star with his latest title win.
On the 11th of August edition of SmackDown, Rey Mysterio added to his legacy once again when he became WWE United States Champion for the third time in his career when he defeated Austin Theory. However, all is still not well in the Mysterio family, and his son, Dominik Mysterio – the current NXT North American Champion – is less than impressed by his father’s achievement.
Rey Mysterio trying to “overshadow” his son
Speaking on WWE’s The Bump, Dominik Mysterio made clear that he is not proud of his father’s latest accomplishment and believes the WWE Hall of Famer is just trying to overshadow him:
“Not at all. I think it’s kind of sad that he feels the need to win a title to try and overshadow what I’m doing. But it doesn’t matter because he’s the United States Champion. I’m the champion of all of North America, which includes the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
“I’m pretty sure I’m the only North American champion that’s ever actually taken this title to Canada, Mexico and the US. But I think it’s kind of sad that my dad feels the need to try and overshadow me with his singles title but whatever, he’s a deadbeat.”
Rey Mysterio will put his US Championship on the line against the man he defeated for the gold at Payback on September 2nd in Pittsburgh, PA.
