The Real Reason Triple H Era Being Hammered Home By WWE

Triple H WWE

Triple H welcomed everyone to WrestleMania 40 as WWE looks to put one specific person in its past behind it and move to a whole new era.

Paul “Triple H” Levesque is the man charged with leading the wrestling side of WWE and has won many plaudits for his work already. Endeavor owns the company through the TKO group, taking care of the business aspects of the company leaving The Game to focus his energies on what fans see on-screen.

This move has been a long time coming and in reality, Triple H has already been calling the shots for quite a while but his succession to the top of WWE was completed in less than ideal circumstances.

Vince McMahon was told to resign as Executive Chairman of TKO after the former WWE Chairman was accused of serious sexual assault in a lawsuit filed by a former employee of the company. Since then Vince McMahon has sold hundreds of millions of dollars worth of shares as his association with the company he once ruled over disintegrates.

Triple H Era Message Being Driven Home By WWE

At night two of WrestleMania 40, Stephanie McMahon made a surprise appearance to open the show, welcoming everyone to the first WrestleMania of the “Paul Levesque era.” That message was again sent after Cody Rhodes won the WWE Championship and he asked Triple H to join his celebrations as he was the man leading this new era.

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer gave insight into why this message is being hammered home by WWE with it being repeated on Monday Night Raw:

There’s a lot of reasons why they’re doing it. The key one is the negative publicity that Vince got, they want to make sure that everyone knows ‘it’s not Vince, it’s not Vince.’ They hammer this thing down that it’s Paul Levesque.

Triple H happily detailed how WrestleMania 40 “destroyed” gate records for WWE as the Paul Levesque era gets off to a hot start.
