Randy Orton To Extend Incredible Streak At WWE Survivor Series
The legacy of Randy Orton continues to grow in WWE as an incredible streak is set to continue at Survivor Series.
At WWE Survivor Series on November 25th in Chicago, Randy Orton will return to in-ring action for the first time in a year and a half. Orton is teaming up with WWE World Champion Seth “Freakin” Rollins, Jey Uso, Sami Zayn and Cody Rhodes in a WarGames match against The Judgment Day’s Damian Priest, Finn Balor, Dominik Mysterio, JD McDonagh and an honorary member for one night, Drew McIntyre
It was on the May 20th, 2022 edition of SmackDown when the WWE Universe last saw Randy Orton in a televised wrestling match. On that night, Orton and fellow Raw Tag Team Champion Matt Riddle lost a Tag Team Title Unification match against The Usos – Jimmy & Jey.
Since then, Randy Orton has been on the shelf after having major back surgery, which is what happens to some wrestlers after 20+ years in the ring. In Orton’s case, his RKO finishing move sees him leap into the air and take a bump himself while delivering the move.
Randy Orton Will Join John Cena In Making WWE History
What’s historic about Randy Orton’s match at Survivor Series is that it will extend a 21-year streak going back to April 25, 2002, when he beat Hardcore Holly in his first WWE-televised match on SmackDown. That streak is about how Orton has wrestled at least one match per year every year for the past 21 years.
The only other wrestler who has had such a streak is his good friend John Cena, who has also had at least one WWE televised match every year for 21 years since Cena made his debut in 2002 as well. On the WWE main roster, Cena and Orton have wrestled many times and are considered great rivals by many WWE fans.
In honor of Thanksgiving, John Cena made sure to give thanks to his pal Randy Orton for their many years together in pro wrestling going back to the OVW days before they got the call to join the WWE main roster.
