Paul Wight Compares AEW Star’s Intensity To Brock Lesnar
Paul Wight thinks of Brock Lesnar when he sees the intensity possessed by one rising AEW star.
Brock Lesnar is considered by many people to be one of the greatest WWE superstars of all-time. The man known as The Beast Incarnate is a 10-time World Champion in WWE with multiple WrestleMania main events over the course of a 20+ year career that was interrupted by eight years where he was away doing other things like becoming the UFC Heavyweight Champion.
One of Lesnar’s most common opponents in WWE was the Big Show aka Paul Wight, who now works for AEW. Wight was the first man to beat Brock Lesnar for the WWE Championship when he did so thanks to a Paul Heyman turn at Survivor Series 2002.
The rivalry between Lesnar and Wight would continue into 2003 when Brock was the WWE Champion again. The two men famously broke the ring to end a Smackdown episode in May 2003 in a moment that WWE fans will never forget.
After Lesnar came back to WWE in 2012, they feuded again in the years that followed. It seems as though Vince McMahon and others who run WWE always thought it looked incredible when Lesnar picked up the Big Show and gave him an F5 probably because it did look incredible.
AEW’s Powerhouse Hobbs Has Similar Intensity To Brock Lesnar According To Paul Wight
One of the many traits that Lesnar has that is praised by people within pro wrestling is his intensity. When Lesnar brings the intensity, he’s a hard man to stop. Wight has seen that intensity up close many times.
Paul Wight was recently interviewed by TMZ where he spoke about the potential of Powerhouse Hobbs, who reminds Wight of Lesnar and Bill Goldberg when it comes to intensity.
“This probably sounds super arrogant. I don’t think there’s been many people like me. But I think I see the same fire and intensity and ability to connect with the audience. Hobbs is a very powerful, explosive, intense individual. There’s been many guys like that that I’ve seen in our business, from Goldberg, who had that intensity, to Brock Lesnar, who had that intensity.”
“Then you have a guy like Hobbs, who has a lot of the same characteristics of someone who won’t go around you, he’ll go through you. So for me, being in the business as long as I have, I can understand that and appreciate that and you want to develop that and make that grow.”
The last time WWE fans got to see Brock Lesnar’s intensity in action was at SummerSlam when he lost to Cody Rhodes. After the match, Lesnar raised Cody’s hand and hugged him in an unplanned moment that was simply a case of Lesnar paying tribute to a current WWE main event star.
