Paul Heyman Makes Rare Heartbreaking Personal Confession
Paul Heyman is one of the greatest minds in the wrestling business.
The character he plays in front of the TV is mesmerizing as he flawlessly blends sharp wit and intense passion with raw honesty. His facial expressions alone ignite a storm of emotions in fans. Every twitch, glance, and grimace tells a story, pulling viewers deep into the moment.
But who knew a natural showman like him would be so self-conscious about his public image? The Oracle recently appeared as a special guest on Stephanie McMahon’s What’s Your Story podcast, where he revealed he struggles to reveal his true self in front of the fans.
Paul Heyman Pours His Heart Out In Front Of Stephanie McMahon
When McMahon asked him to discuss his insecurity, Paul Heyman explained that he prefers playing a character on TV because being himself publicly feels flawed and uncomfortable. At home, he’s confident and honest, but in the public eye, he feels flaws aren’t entertaining. This is how their conversation went:
McMahon: You said I’m much more comfortable playing a character than being myself.
Paul Heyman: Yes.
McMahon: Why?
Heyman: Because I know how f*cked up I am.
McMahon: We are all f*cked up. All of us. That’s called being human.
Paul Heyman: But that doesn’t make it entertaining for people except when they go, ‘Haha! Look at that person.’
McMahon: What makes you so bad? What makes you so bad right now, being yourself?
Heyman: It’s not bad. It’s just flawed.
McMahon: Everybody’s flawed.
Paul Heyman: Yeah, I know. But nobody wants to pay to see someone who’s flawed… I’m not uncomfortable being myself ever. I’m uncomfortable being myself in the public eye or allowing myself to be presented as myself. I’m super comfortable at home. I could talk to you forever and thoroughly love the conversation and never be self-conscious about it, but in public, oh dear God! (From 3:20 to 5:08)
