Nick Aldis Addresses Current Status With WWE
Nick Aldis has commented on what his current role is with WWE while balancing other aspects of his life.
As a former NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion and a TNA/Impact World Champion, Nick Aldis knows a lot about how to make it to the top in pro wrestling. While the talented Brit hasn’t worked for WWE in the ring, he has been working behind the scenes for WWE since August.
In his current role for WWE, Nick Aldis is a Producer who helps to put together the matches with the talent for Raw on Mondays & Smackdown on Fridays.
Aldis has worked with other Producers to learn more about the job while also getting the chance to be the sole Producer on matches that air on WWE Main Event.
At 36 years old (he’ll be 37 in November), Nick Aldis is still in his wrestling prime and earlier this year, he headlined the IMPACT Wrestling Slammiversary show in July. Aldis also takes bookings for independent shows as well.
While talking to the “McGuire On Wrestling” podcast, Aldis spoke about the positive experience he has had working with WWE.
“I think it’s safe to say I’m working with WWE, yes. That’s the way I look at it — I’m working with them at the moment. At least from my point of view, I feel like it’s been very positive, and I’ve enjoyed it. And it’s been rewarding, and I’m very obviously flattered that they would want my input and expertise, … especially with helping some of the younger talent that are coming up from NXT.”
It’s not known if WWE will use Aldis as a wrestler. For now, he’s still training to be a Producer and is not full-time in the role.
Nick Aldis balances his schedule to make it to WWE TV tapings
As a WWE Producer in training, the company wants Aldis to be at Raw & Smackdown tapings as much as he can. However, he does have independent wrestling bookings and other things in his life. That includes his wife Mickie James, who is a WWE legend who works for IMPACT Wrestling currently. Aldis spoke about trying to balance everything in his life.
“Fortunately, WWE [has] been very understanding of [my schedule]. There have been times where I’ve been unable to make certain shows because of my independent commitments, and also because of Mickie’s commitments. Fitting it all in is a challenge, but certainly fun. Basically, I’m currently attending ‘Raw’ and ‘SmackDown’ whenever I can.”
Nick and Mickie also have a son together, which obviously is a big priority for both of them as well.
