New WWE Champion Dismisses Kurt Angle Comparisons

Kurt Angle on the mic

A rising young star in WWE doesn’t feel like it’s right to be compared to legendary Kurt Angle.

Kendal Grey isn’t a household name for WWE fans yet, but she is on her way. Grey won the Women’s Evolve Championship featuring WWE developmental stars. Grey beat Kali Armstrong in a great match where she used a powerslam to get the win.

The former amateur wrestler Grey has been so impressive that she has even been compared to top WWE women’s wrestler Bianca Belair, who has excelled on the main roster after being a former track athlete.

Due to her background as an amateur wrestler, Grey has also been compared to WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle, an Olympic gold medalist who went on to have a legendary career as a professional wrestler.

Grey, who is 24 years old, told Muscle Memory that she isn’t sure about the comparisons to Kurt Angle, who had his legendary King of the Ring 2001 Street Fight with Shane McMahon in the same month when Grey was born.

“Well, I definitely don’t have a gold medal at the Olympics. I’ll tell you that. So… and, you know, I’m a female, so I don’t know.”

As she continued, Kendal Grey spoke about how it’s cool to be compared to an incredible like Kurt Angle, but she is ready to make her own mark in pro wrestling.

“I think for me, I think being compared to him is like—obviously he’s one of the greats, so it is a cool, you know, comparison. But I try to just be different. I think for women’s wrestling in the women’s division, not many people come from an amateur wrestling background. So, I would like to bring that into the women’s division.

I don’t want to be compared to someone or feel like I have to live up to someone’s, you know, experience. I just want to have my own experience and have fun, you know.” (h/T Ringsidenews)

Kurt Angle Confirms There Will Be A Movie About His Life

The life of Kurt Angle has been an interesting one, so it’s no surprise that the former WWE Champion is helping to produce a movie about his life. Angle is an Olympic gold medal wrestler, who is also in the WWE & TNA Hall of Fame due ot his incredible career in pro wrestling. According to Angle, they have found investors for the movie.

“Yeah, you know what, we are working on that movie. I have the directors Ian and Eshom Nelms, they’re brothers. They were former wrestlers in high school and college. So they understand my sport. We’ve been talking to each other. We’re almost done with the script.

We already got the investors. So we’re in a good position right now, but we’re gonna make sure the script’s perfected before we do anything, before we pick the cast and everything like that.”

In addition to the love from fans, legendary wrestlers like The Rock have also praised Kurt Angle as one of his favorite opponents.
