New AEW Tag Team Champions Crowned As Young Bucks Walk Out
One team have avoided the abyss of splitting up as they finally win the big one and defeat The Young Bucks for the AEW Tag Team Championship.
In the early days of AEW, Private Party shocked the world as they defeated The Young Bucks in a tournament to crown the inaugural AEW Tag Team Champions. However, five years later, that surprise win remained the high point of Isiah Kassidy and Marq Quen’s career in the company.
With Jon Moxley’s reign of terror changing the face of Tony Khan’s company, he has taken aim at those that he feels have not progressed during their time in AEW.
Private Party led the fight back against Moxley and his BCC but also found themselves in The Young Bucks’ sights again. Zay and Quen lost to The Young Bucks at WrestleDream but found themselves with another title shot at Fright Night Dynamite, however, this time if Private Party lost, they’d split up forever.
Private Party Win First AEW Gold
A wild match ensued with Zay spilling blood while Quen was dropped with a tombstone by The Elite’s Kazuchika Okada. However, a never say die spirit allowed Private Party to nail Nicholas Jackson with Gin and Juice to win the AEW Tag Team Championship for the very first time. In an uncharacteristic display of respect, The Bucks handed over the title belts to the new champions.
The Young Bucks were later seen leaving the arena noting that the working environment was too chaotic and they’d be working from home. With the Jacksons gone, Jon Moxley and the BCC attacked Brandon Cutler, with Claudio Castagnoli smashing his hand with a hammer.
