More On Jay White Joining AEW – “WWE Was After Him”
On Dynamite in Long Island, New York, Jay White answered the questions regarding his future as he appeared in AEW to reunite with his Bullet Club comrade Juice Robinson.
Switchblade had lost two matches in recent months meaning that he could no longer compete in Japan and then could no longer compete for New Japan Pro Wrestling as questions about his future mounted.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that Jay White had decisions to make regarding his future and confirmed WWE was in the hunt for him:
“I’m surprised because if he’s with AEW, he could go back to New Japan in theory, but he lost those matches that said he couldn’t.
“WWE was after him. It was his choice between the two sides, and this was the side he chose. It’s a feather in the cap of AEW and Tony Khan – he got the guy. That’s a good thing for AEW, now they have to use him the right way.”
It remains to be seen what Jay White’s presence in AEW means for a company that is riding high after announcing the astonishing news that their UK debut will take place in the 90,000-capacity Wembley Stadium in London, England.
