Major Star On Brink Of AEW Return

A top AEW star will be back soon.

On September 19, MJF was defeated by Mistico as he lost the CMLL World Light Heavyweight Championship in a Title vs. Mask Match. 24 hours later, the AEW star was again beaten, this time by Mark Briscoe in a wild Tables n Tacks Match at All Out.

Off the back of those losses, MJF vanished from AEW television.

His disappearance from AEW came as needed time off to film the movie, Violent Night 2, after also appearing in the likes of Happy Gilmore 2 and The Iron Claw. MJF had been splitting his time between AEW and filming his new role in Winnipeg, but questions have been asked about his status due to his absence from the ring since All Out.

More recently, it’s been reported that MJF has been factored into plans for Worlds End. But now a new report has offered more details.

MJF Heading Back To AEW

On the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez gave an update on MJF’s status, and it seems it could be back within the next week. He explained that the star’s filming commitments are over, and he’s free to head back to AEW immediately.

“Now, the Dynamite Diamond Battle Royal has been taking place for what, five years now. And every single year, the winner of that ends up being MJF. Nobody else has ever won the ring. So, I can’t say 1000% that MJF is going to be in that match, but I mean, MJF’s going to be in that match. He has no film commitments at this moment.”

Alvarez went on to highlight that MJF still has a shot at the World Championship waiting for him when he gets back, regardless of what he might do in the meantime.

“Of course, he has the briefcase(contract) or whatever to get the championship match. So, conceivably, he could also be in that World’s End four-way main event for the title or how many people it is. So I presume he’ll make his return for the Battle Royal, then we’ll see what happens with the Worlds End main event.”

Samoa Joe made the most recent defence of the AEW World Championship on Dynamite Winter Is Coming. On the show, Joe defeated Eddie Kingston.
