Kenny Omega Undergoes Surgery
Kenny Omega’s recovery continues.
As reported via Fightful Select, Kenny Omega has undergone surgery in New York as he continues his recovery from diverticulitis. The report states the surgery took place on May 16th.
There are currently no creative plans in place for Omega in AEW, and the company is predicting a lengthy recovery.
Omega hasn’t wrestled since defeating Ethan Page on December 5th at a taping for AEW Collision. The match was broadcast four days later. Around this time, the star was in a great deal of pain but continued to try and work through the mystery issue.
In the weeks after the match Omega was diagnosed with diverticulitis and warned his condition was on the brink of becoming life threatening.
Kenny Omega Briefly Returned To AEW
Despite his diagnosis, Kenny Omega returned to AEW Dynamite on May 1st in his hometown of Winnipeg. On the show, Omega addressed the chaos surrounding The Elite after the group attacked AEW boss Tony Khan a week earlier and his own plans for a comeback.
However, after being confronted by Kazuchika Okada he was attacked by Jack Perry and The Young Bucks.
A week later, he announced a huge Anarchy in the Arena match for Double or Nothing with The Elite taking on Bryan Danielson, FTR, and Eddie Kingston.
Eddie Kingston has since been removed from the match and replaced by Darby Allin. Kingston suffered a broken leg and torn ACL and meniscus at NJPW Resurgence, and won’t return to action until at least May 2025.
