Kazuchika Okada On What Match Made Him Want To Face Bryan Danielson

Kazuchika Okada makes his entrance at AEWxNJPW Forbidden Door 2022

A wrestling dream match will take place at AEW-NJPW Forbidden Door and Kazuchika Okada has shared what made him decide now was the right time.

At tonight’s Forbidden Door, Kazuchika Okada will take on Bryan Danielson in a hotly anticipated battle that sees NJPW and AEW collide.

The Two-Time IWGP World Heavyweight Champion has admitted that he has been watching Danielson throughout his career and that he feels right now is the perfect opportunity for the pair to “do something incredible”.

Speaking with Sports Illustrated ahead of the match, Kazuchika Okada opened up on how he used to watch Danielson in Ring of Honor, and how his opponent’s match with Kenny Omega led him to desire the chance to compete with the former WWE Heavyweight Champion.

“That is my strongest image of Bryan—when he was in Ring of Honor. I haven’t seen many of his matches since he went to WWE.

When I saw the time limit draw he wrestled with Kenny Omega in AEW, I knew he and I could do something incredible. I have respect for him. There’s no hate here. I think that’s the appeal—just pure, competitive wrestling.”

“All good things come to an end, including this match. So please enjoy every single moment of it before I win.”

Bryan Danielson has shared how he has wanted to fight Kazuchika Okada for a long time.

During last Wednesday’s Dynamite, Danielson and Okada had a stare-off in the ring, before Wheeler Yuta attacked the Five-Time IWGP Heavyweight Champion.

Elsewhere on the Forbidden Door card, Will Ospreay is looking to reclaim the IWGP United States Championship from Kenny Omega.

Whilst MJF was goaded into putting his AEW World Heavyweight Championship on the line against Hiroshi Tanahashi by his soon-to-be Tag Team partner Adam Cole.

Cole taunted MJF claiming he must be scared of Tanahashi, which led to the Champion accepting the NJPW Sstar’s challenge.
