Jon Moxley Wants Historic First
Jon Moxley may be embroiled in a brutal and bloody war with The Elite in AEW but the star has his sights set on setting a new record for himself through his work in NJPW.
Moxley recently returned to Japan for the first time since 2020 at Dominion and he seems set to split his time between AEW and New Japan Pro Wrestling more as he looks to achieve a wrestling first.
Speaking to Tokyo Sports, Jon Moxley noted that he’s already won two major world titles in pro wrestling and wants to become the first man to capture the WWE, AEW, and IWGP World Championships:
“I’ve become both the WWE World Heavyweight Champion (now the WWE Championship) and the AEW World Champion, but I haven’t become the IWGP World Heavyweight Champion yet. I’ve won all three titles. I don’t think there’s anyone out there who’s wrapped up? If I’m going to fight SANADA, I have an image of myself as the IWGP World Champion, so it might be interesting.”

The first AEW Champion Chris Jericho has also held the WWE Championship so would just need New Japan Pro Wrestling’s top prize to complete the set. CM Punk has also held both those titles while Kenny Omega has been AEW and IWGP World Champion so would need to become WWE Champion in the future to achieve that milestone.
Brock Lesnar and AJ Styles are the only men to have held both the WWE Championship and the IWGP World Championship so would need to walk through the forbidden door and capture the AEW World Title one day to complete that set.
