John Cena WrestleMania Win Could Impact Drew McIntyre
A WrestleMania win for John Cena could have big ramifications.
In February, it was reported that Drew McIntyre was moved to SmackDown to face Cody Rhodes. The report noted that a rivalry between the pair had been scheduled back in 2023, but those plans were changed.
In the days after the report, McIntyre officially joined the blue brand, and he now seems set to face Damian Priest at WrestleMania. However, even if McIntyre emerges victorious, his planned series with Rhodes might be put on hold once again.
Away from McIntyre, John Cena has won the right to face Rhodes at WrestleMania for the Undisputed WWE Title. Should Cena win, as many expect now that he’s turned heel, he’ll set a new record for World Title wins, moving him past Ric Flair.
However, that could have an impact on creative for McIntyre.
John Cena Story Could Change Drew McIntyre Plans
Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reiterated that McIntyre was pencilled in for a rivalry with Rhodes for the World Championship, however, he acknowledged that this will fall apart if Cena wins.
McIntyre was moved to Smackdown originally for a title match series with Rhodes, but if Rhodes loses that falls apart as I don’t see them doing Cena vs. McIntyre.
For the second time, Brian Gewirtz has dismissed a report on John Cena and The Rock, this time laughing off claims the pair would be known as “The Rock and Soul Connection.” This came after an earlier post from Gewirtz where he denied Cena’s heel turn had been moved from WrestleMania to Elimination Chamber.
Meanwhile, Drew McIntyre has teased that there are big things on the way after talks with The Rock at Elimination Chamber. Some have suggested this could mean that McIntyre will be joining Rock and Cena to dominate WWE.
