Injured WWE Star Has New Role In Company
Robert Roode appears to have transitioned from WWE Superstar to match producer.
Fightful Select published a list of producers for the segments that took place on the August 14th episode of Raw and the Main Event taping that took place before. As seen on the list, Roode and Petey Williams produced the match between Chad Gable and Giovanni Vinci. Along with shadowing experienced producer Williams, Roode produced the Main Event match between Ricochet and Tommaso Ciampa solo.
This is the second consecutive week that Roode has produced segments for WWE. Also joining the former NXT Champion in his first week was Nick Aldis, who did not appear on the producer’s list for the August 14th episode.
Now being in the role for 2 weeks, it appears that The Glorious One will be transitioning to the role of producer instead of getting back in the ring.
Why Is Robert Roode Not Wrestling In WWE?
Roode has been off of TV for over a year, last appearing on an episode of Raw in June 2022 alongside Dolph Ziggler. The former United States Champion took time away as he required multiple neck surgeries. The first operation that saw a C5/6 fusion took place in November, and the second surgery fusing the C4/5 took place in May 2023.
Having competed in-ring for over 20 years, Roode has a decorated career in both TNA and WWE, winning the World Heavyweight Championship twice in TNA and reigning once as NXT Champion. Along with a successful singles career, the former Beer Money member would also find success in the Tag Team division, capturing the titles 12 times across multiple promotions.
Upon arriving in NXT, Roode became one of the highlights of the show with his “Glorious” entrance theme.
