Infamous John Cena Rival Wants WWE Rematch

John Cena

A WWE legend has staked their claim for a huge rematch with John Cena.

At Money In The Bank John Cena stunned fans by announcing his WWE retirement. Cena said upcoming events such as Elimination Chamber 2025 and WrestleMania 41 would be his last, although he later clarified he wouldn’t be having his last match at WrestleMania.

With the clock now running on Cena’s career, stars both past and present have been making their pitch for one more match with the WWE legend.

Cena’s career has been littered with famous moments but one of his biggest came in defeat to Rob Van Dam at ECW One Night Stand 2006. Van Dam called his shot after winning the Money In The Bank briefcase and went on to beat Cena to become World Champion in front of a raucous crowd.

Speaking on his 1 of a Kind podcast, Van Dam said he hopes he gets one more match with Cena.

“I Hope they bring me in for a rematch with Cena. That would be super cool.

I don’t know if they know, but I know I could have that same match, Absolutely.”

Rob Van Dam vs. John Cena Might Be A Dream

While he might want the match to happen, it seems Rob Van Dam isn’t convinced a WWE return could be on the cards.

During an earlier episode of his podcast, Van Dam suggested his relationship with Triple H could prevent him from returning to the company. The former World Champion recalled having a good relationship with Vince McMahon, but he doesn’t know how things sit with the “other guy.”

Rob Van Dam had previously said he’d be open to returning to WWE but was in no rush to pick up the phone and make a deal happen.
