Hulk Hogan Pays Tribute To The Iron Sheik
Hulk Hogan has given his thoughts on the recent passing of his iconic former rival the Iron Sheik.
Hossein Khosrow Ali Vaziri passed away on Wednesday at age 81. Since then, tributes have poured in from both within the wrestling fandom and beyond for the iconic villain and shoot interview legend.
The Iron Sheik was famous throughout the 1970s and 1980s for being a reviled villain that spat on the United States and generated instant and constant heat from the crowd. He was a feared wrestler with an accomplished amateur background, which made him the perfect villain for Hulk Hogan to beat to usher in Hulkamania and the first golden age of professional wrestling.
In response to Iron Sheik’s passing, Hogan took to Instagram to share his thought and emotions on his now-departed friend.
“The wrestling world has lost a true legend, and Sheikh’s contributions to our industry will never be forgotten.
I’ll always cherish the battles we had in the ring. Our matches were intense, and our rivalry was legendary. We shared a bond that only fellow wrestlers can understand.
Iron Sheikh’s unique charisma, undeniable talent, and unforgettable personality made him an unforgettable figure in the hearts of wrestling fans worldwide. His legacy will continue to inspire generations of wrestlers to come.”
Long after his in-ring career ended, the Iron Sheik became famous once again, albeit for a different reason. His unfiltered personality and liberal repetition of “F**K THE HULK HOGAN!” in promos made him one of the most beloved retired wrestlers in modern times.
