How Long CM Punk Cried After Serious WWE Injury
CM Punk has opened up about how he really felt when he suffered a serious injury in his first major match back in WWE after ten years.
CM Punk shocked the world when he returned to WWE at Survivor Series 2023 just a few weeks after he was finally fired by AEW for another backstage altercation.
Punk returned to the ring at live events over the holiday season in 2023 but his first TV match back in the company saw him trying to finally book a WrestleMania main event by winning the men’s Royal Rumble. Punk ended up the last man eliminated as Cody Rhodes won back-to-back Rumbles but there was worse news to come for the Straight Edge Superstar.
During the match, CM Punk suffered a serious injury after taking a move from Drew McIntyre. That injury put Punk out of action for 8 months meaning he missed WrestleMania 40 altogether. Punk finally returned to action at SummerSlam 2024 when he got his hands on McIntyre and defeated him.
CM Punk Cried About Injury
Speaking on the Nightcap podcast, CM Punk lifted the lid on his reaction to his injury and why he only allowed himself to cry about it for eight minutes:
I had a night where, woe is me, I cried about it, I was upset. I had just come back to the WWE after ten years of being gone and was looking forward to doing, you know, just awesome, awesome stuff. And it came to a screeching halt.
As somebody who is active every day, you guys know if you can’t play, if you can’t go to the gym, you lose your mind. And I lost my mind.
I felt bad about it for about eight minutes, had a cry, and then realized that at that moment, it felt like the worst thing that had ever happened to me, so I wanted to do the impossible and flip it and make it the best thing that ever happened to me.
Since his feud with Drew McIntyre came to an end, Punk has reignited his feud with Seth Rollins. CM Punk and Rollins will finally clash when Raw makes its debut on Netflix.
