How Eric Bischoff Really Feels About AEW Surpassing WCW
AEW has surpassed a major WCW milestone but how does the former boss of WCW Eric Bischoff really feel about Tony Khan’s achievement?
AEW Spring BreakThru saw Dynamite surpass WCW Nitro in terms of number of episodes. Spring BreakThru saw a huge title change take place while a former TNA World Champion also made his AEW debut.
AEW made sure to mark the occasion but many wondered just how former WCW President Eric Bischoff – a frequent critic of Tony Khan’s company – really felt about AEW making a big deal out of the achievement.
But for Eric Bischoff, he only has congratulations to offer.
Eric Bischoff Magnanimous Over AEW’s Milestone
Speaking on 83 Weeks, Eric Bischoff congratulated Tony Khan for what he has achieved with AEW Dynamite and says despite him having differences on the product, AEW has achieved something that isn’t easy although surpassing Nitro doesn’t bother him at all:
I want to congratulate Tony Khan and his entire staff. This obviously means a lot to them, and congratulations. It does say a lot about Tony’s commitment. Tony put his own money into this. You can judge the product. I can judge the product. I often have, I just don’t watch it anymore. But the truth is, his vision, his dream, his money, his commitment. So congratulations. Because what he did isn’t easy.
No matter how anybody feels about the product, it wasn’t easy and it still isn’t. So congratulations for your effort and no, it doesn’t bother me a bit. It doesn’t mean anything to me. While it does to Tony and company, and I understand why. He put a lot of time and work and money, as I’ve just discussed. So good for them. But no, it doesn’t bother me at all.
Eric Bischoff made several appearances in the early days of AEW but quickly turned into a harsh critic of the company as relations between both sides clearly soured.
