Gunther Thinks Headlining WWE WrestleMania Doesn’t Really Matter
Not many current wrestlers might agree with Gunther’s recent statement about headlining WrestleMania.
Nevertheless, he remains one of the most dominant stars in WWE with record title runs.
The Austrian wrestler recently appeared on The Undertaker’s Six Feet Under podcast, where he stated that one can brag about headlining WrestleMania as long as they are inside the wrestling bubble.
However, such accolades rarely define people outside of it.
For me personally, wrestling accolades — in our bubble, they are good achievements but when I’m outside of that, it’s not really — I don’t know, I don’t want to put stress on my life for that.
Before WrestleMania, there was this whole deal where like, is it gonna be the main with Jey and stuff like that. You catch yourself a little bit where you’re like, oh yeah, it should be, it’s for the title.
But then, you kick out of it and go, at the end of the day, if I look my son in the face and tell him, ‘Son, I main evented WrestleMania’, he’s not going to give a f*ck about that. You’ve got to put things in perspective a little bit sometimes. [H/T Ringside News]
The Undertaker was all praises for Gunther at the beginning of the podcast, naming him one of his favorite wrestlers on the current roster.
Gunther To Undergo Surgery
Gunther’s dominant show at SummerSlam ended with an unexpected outcome as he dropped the World Heavyweight Championship to CM Punk.
During the match, he was shown to have suffered a broken nose, which started his downward spiral.
According to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer, the incident was planned beforehand due to a legitimate issue that Gunther had been suffering from.
He also revealed that the 37-year-old will undergo surgery and take some time off to recuperate.
