Gunther Makes Bold Claim Ahead Of John Cena’s Final WWE Match
Following tonight’s episode of WWE SmackDown, the stage is set for John Cena’s final match of his career. The 17-time World Champion is set to hang up his boots at the end of next week.
The ‘Last Time is Now’ tournament was held to select John Cena’s final WWE opponent, and the tournament came to a conclusion tonight as Gunther defeated LA Knight in the finals.
The Ring General now has the opportunity to retire another one of WWE’s legendary wrestlers this year after he defeated Goldberg in his final match earlier this year. This will also be the first time these two wrestlers will face each other in the ring.
Gunther Sends Strong Message to John Cena following WWE SmackDown
Gunther wrestled an incredibly hard-hitting match against LA Knight as the Megastar pushed him to his limit. The longest reigning Intercontinental Champion overcame Knight after a gruesome match and delivered a strong message to John Cena.
Just when SmackDown was about to go off the air, Gunther looked at the camera and claimed that John Cena will finally and definitely ‘give up’ when he faces The Ring General at SNME.
"You finally and definitely will give up!"

He was referencing Cena’s iconic ‘Never Give Up’ motto which he has preached and followed throughout his career. Interestingly, Cena has rarely ever tapped out during his over two decade run in the company and Gunther would be determined to make him tap out in his last match, just like he made LA Knight tap out tonight.
