Goldberg Refuses To Work For Cheesy AEW
Goldberg has little time for AEW or Tony Khan.
Goldberg hasn’t wrestled since being defeated by Roman Reigns at Elimination Chamber in 2022. However, that doesn’t mean he’s retired. In fact, in April 2023, Goldberg claimed Vince McMahon had gone back on a deal that would have seen him have a retirement match in WWE. With the agreement broken, the search for one more match continued.
This naturally led to speculation that Goldberg could land in AEW, and Tony Khan has previously left the door open for a deal.
However, the WWE Hall of Famer has now ruled out ever setting foot in AEW in a brutally honest fashion.
Appearing on 93.7 The Ticket, the veteran confirmed he’d spoken to the company previously, but dismissed it as “cheesy.”
“I’ve talked to him [Tony] a number of times throughout the past. This is where you’re gonna get the most blunt answer you’re gonna get from me. The product is too cheesy. The product is too cheesy. It doesn’t deserve to have, whatever, now you’re really gonna get me going. But if there was a comparable, viable option as a competitor that would allow me to still look myself in the mirror after I was a member of their roster? Yeah, then it would be a consideration. But not a chance.”
Goldberg Fighting Off Retirement Talk
Speaking elsewhere, Goldberg said wrestlers don’t really retire until they’re dead. Despite this, the star explained that he had enjoyed being able to spend more time with his family in recent years without the distraction of wrestling getting in the way.
Goldberg recently caused a storm with his comments about WWE’s Asuka after he said that the company had “some Japanese girl” break his undefeated streak.
