Ex-WWE Star Recalls Triple H And Vince McMahon Power Struggle
A former WWE superstar has commented on how it was for him on the main roster when Triple H was trying to run the show while Vince McMahon was still around.
It was in July 2022 when Vince McMahon “retired” from WWE after a hush money scandal revealed the former Chairman had inappropriate relationships with multiple women that ended up costing Vince about $20 million of his fortune.
After Vince’s retirement, his son-in-law Paul “Triple H” Levesque finally took over as the Head of Creative on the main roster with the fancy job title of WWE’s Chief Content Officer. Everything was going swimmingly well until January 2023 when Vince forced his way back in, which led to his daughter Stephanie McMahon (Triple H’s wife) resigning as WWE’s Chairwoman.
In January 2024 right around the Royal Rumble, former WWE employee Janel Grant filed a lawsuit against Vince McMahon, WWE, and John Laurinaitis. That lawsuit included allegations of sex trafficking and claims by Grant that both McMahon and Laurinaitis sexually assaulted her. McMahon has denied it, but his WWE bosses Endeavor have made it clear they want nothing to do with him at TKO Group and McMahon has been out of the company for several months now.
That means that WWE is now the Triple H show, which was made clear throughout WrestleMania 40 weekend. Numerous people spoke about the new “Triple H Era” of WWE including Paul Heyman during his Hall of Fame induction, Stephanie herself and numerous others.
What Was The Triple H-Vince McMahon Power Struggle Like?
Cameron Grimes was released by WWE earlier this week mainly due to not being utilized much on the Smackdown roster. Grimes was a part of the WWE NXT brand for a few years before being called up to the main roster in May 2023 and put on Smackdown.
During an appearance on Busted Open Radio, Grimes spoke about what it was like in WWE around that time when Triple H and Vince McMahon were running the company.
“What happened was, as soon as I got brought up there, was the struggle between the two. Hunter wasn’t really in charge yet. Vince was still kinda in charge. There was still that battle going on between them.”
“You were either a Hunter guy or a Vince guy. At the time, Vince was still in charge, being a Hunter guy didn’t really help you that much, during that period.”
