An impending WWE return has been in the works for a long time.

On January 2nd it was reported that Trinity is expected to leave IMPACT Wrestling and return to WWE in the very near future. The star debuted with the company back in April and went on to win the Knockouts Championship which she currently still holds.

However, she’s expected to become a free agent very soon and jump back to WWE.

Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer confirmed that the company is expecting the star to return and that talks between the two sides began almost a year ago.

“Trinity Fatu (Naomi) will return here shortly after finishing up her TNA contract. Fightful first reported that it was likely and our WWE sources said it was expected and in the current plans. There had been unofficial talks with her dating back nearly a year and those in TNA expected this would happen when her deal was up.”

Will Mercedes Mone Return To WWE?

Naomi left WWE at the same time as Sasha Banks who is now known as Mercedes Mone. Although Naomi seems to be heading back to her former home, talks between the sports entertainment giant and Mone have reportedly collapsed. This development has paved the way for the star to join AEW — even if a deal is yet to be announced.

Despite this, there is some speculation within WWE that the company could be ‘doing a CM Punk’ and Mone could appear at the Royal Rumble.

CM Punk’s return at Survivor Series was one of the biggest surprises in recent wrestling history with very few people aware that a deal had been reached. Punk had been with AEW since the summer of 2021 before being fired a little over two years later.
