Ex-WWE Champion Officially Retiring At 42
A former WWE Champion is ready to hang up their boots.
Signed currently to Total Nonstop Action, Johnny Dango Curtis (JDC), fka Fandango, has announced that he will step away from wrestling after the Genesis pay-per-view in January 2026.
During the November 13 taping of TNA, members of The System took turns speaking to the crowd, when JDC asked to go before Brian Myers.
The 42-year-old, who recently got married, revealed speaking to his wife before arriving at the life-altering decision.
JDC further expressed gratitude for being a part of the business, thanking TNA and WWE fans for their support through the years.
He admitted to spending a good portion of his time being ungrateful, but that had changed for the better.
Meanwhile, an official date for TNA Genesis has yet to be announced. Fandango is a wrestling veteran, having begun his career in 1989 while wrestling in the indies.
He signed with the Stamford promotion in 2006, even winning his WrestleMania 29 match against Chris Jericho, and was released in 2021. Fandango is a one-time NXT Tag Team Champion.
He has been with TNA since 2022.
Joe Hendry Signs With WWE
Joe Hendry has been a major player in TNA, even serving as the promotion’s one-time World Champion.
However, those days are seemingly behind him, as Fightful Select recently reported that he had officially signed with WWE.
Over the last few weeks, Hendry has had more appearances on NXT than TNA, which sparked discussions about his contract with Total Nonstop Action.
His last match aired in October, and due to negotiations with the Stamford promotion, he missed Bound for Glory and hadn’t been creatively factored in for the company’s Turning Point special.
The 37-year-old Scot has been involved in a mixed tag team storyline alongside Thea Hail against Ethan Page and Chelsea Green.
