“It’s All Bullsh*t” – Ex-WWE Champion Claims Titles Mean Nothing

For many wrestlers, titles are as important as exposure.

Titles are a way to establish a legacy, and numbers help in a way, as seen with John Cena, who won his 17th World Championship at WrestleMania 41.

But not for Spike Dudley.

The former WWE and ECW star has won a handful of titles, but he believes they don’t hold much significance.

At the Stamford promotion, he won 10 championships, including 7 Hardcore titles. Similarly, in ECW, he was a 2-time World Tag Team Champion.

The 55-year-old, who is now retired from wrestling, recently appeared on the Insight with Chris Van Vliet podcast.

When asked about the possibility of him becoming the ECW Champion during his heyday, Spike made his thoughts clear while replying.

I couldn’t give a sh*t about the titles. Titles were a pain in the a**, to be honest with you. I did not like having the titles in ECW because you had to carry, well, you always had to carry the belts around. Actually, the ones in ECW, me and Balls (Mahoney), when we were tag champs, that was significant to me and the WWE, I had a bunch of these titles, and it’s all bullsh*t, you know what I mean.

Former WWE Champion Gunther Echoes Similar Sentiments As Spike Dudley

Gunther, who is a two-time WWE World Champion, made waves recently when he dismissed the value of headlining WrestleMania.

The 38-year-old Austrian echoed similar sentiments as Spike Dudley during his appearance on The Undertaker’s Six Feet Under podcast.

For me personally, wrestling accolades — in our bubble, they are good achievements but when I’m outside of that, it’s not really — I don’t know, I don’t want to put stress on my life for that.

Before WrestleMania, there was this whole deal where like, is it gonna be the main with Jey and stuff like that. You catch yourself a little bit where you’re like, oh yeah, it should be, it’s for the title.

But then, you kick out of it and go, at the end of the day, if I look my son in the face and tell him, ‘Son, I main evented WrestleMania’, he’s not going to give a f*ck about that. You’ve got to put things in perspective a little bit sometimes.

Meanwhile, Gunther has not appeared on WWE programming since his SummerSlam defeat. Read to know why.
