Ex-World Champion Finally Clears Up WWE Signing Rumors After Merch Drop
An ex-champion has cleared the air surrounding the rumours about his official signing with WWE.
Cibernetico, who is currently signed with Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide, was recently seen during the Mexican promotion’s Triplemania supercard.
He competed in the Bardahl Cup Royal Rumble match at Triplemania XXXIII on August 16, entering as the #11 contestant as one of the favorites.
Cibernetico is a legend in lucha libre and is a three-time AAA World Champion.
He received a tremendous reception from the crowd at Arena CDMX in New Mexico. The 40-year-old star impressed with a variety of maneuvers up until his elimination.
His elimination occurred when WWE’s Otis used Microman as a weapon to push Cibernetico off the ring ropes.
The battle royal was ultimately won by Omos, who returned to in-ring action after months of being on the sidelines due to an injury.
He has yet to make his first World Wrestling Entertainment appearance since participating in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal in March 2024.
Cibernetico Clarifies His Official Status With WWE
Talks about Cibernetico having officially signed with the Stamford promotion began after his merchandise appeared on WWE Shop.
However, he issued a clarification, stating he had not signed with the company.
During a recent episode of his podcast, he said that he was not under contract.
There were t-shirts for El Mesías, la Pimpi (Pimpinela Escarlata) and even mine now on WWEShop, and many thought that meant I was under contract. No dude, don’t get ahead of yourselves. Those are deals done and stuff that gets done little by little, but having a t-shirt does not mean we have a contract. [H/T: Ringside News]
While he is currently employed by AAA, Cibernetico has worked with WWE previously.
He made several appearances from 1996 to 1997, even featuring in the 1997 Royal Rumble event, where he entered at #15.
