AAA Wrestlers Express Concern About WWE Deal

Triple H WWE boss

AAA talents reportedly have mixed feelings about WWE.

On August 16, AAA held Triplemania XXXIII in Mexico City. The event featured more WWE influence than ever before, with several Superstars in high-profile spots, including the main event.

Since it was announced that WWE had acquired the company during WrestleMania weekend, the sports entertainment giant’s impact on AAA has only grown. However, that doesn’t mean everyone in the Mexican promotion is happy about it.

Not Everyone Supports WWE’s AAA Plans

According to a new report in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Nick Khan addressed the AAA locker room ahead of the show. His comments reportedly echoed those made by Triple H.

“Khan gave a speech to the talent before the show and told them he wanted to make it clear that WWE is not there to take over the product. They are only there to assist them in being seen globally, and to ultimately put more money into all of their pockets.”

Meltzer added that the reaction to Khan’s comments was perhaps more mixed than he would have hoped for. While some wrestlers were quick to see the positive side of the partnership, others were concerned about the newly introduced restrictions on their contracts.

It’s believed these new restrictions mean that talents are unable to take independent bookings in North America, something that has traditionally provided a large portion of income for the roster.

During Triplemania, it was also announced that Worlds Collide will return on September 12 in Las Vegas. The first event took place on June 7, during Money In The Bank weekend, and was immediately touted as a success.

Meanwhile, following the show, it was noted that The Undertaker is becoming a “driving force” behind the Mexican promotion. The veteran is expected to continue to work around the promotion in the coming months.
