Ex-AEW Star Wants To Retire In WWE
A former AEW star is looking to end their career in WWE.
Back in February, Shawn Spears made a surprise to NXT a month after becoming a free agent. Spears, who had been known as Tye Dillinger, was granted his release by WWE in 2019 and spent four years in AEW before making his return.
During a new interview with Chris Van Vliet, Spears reflected on his return to WWE, revealing he was the person who initially made contact, reaching out to Triple H. The star added that he’s now content to end his career with the company and has already started working behind the scenes.
Maybe it’s human nature to always wonder if you made certain right calls at certain things as opposed to sitting back and going, eh, I did okay.
I know for certain, I am in the right spot, right now, in it with everything and all the time has gone by and all the decisions that I have made, I can say wholeheartedly that I am in the right spot, right now in WWE and NXT, and I am very confident to say that I will retire and finish everything here. I don’t wanna go anywhere else and that’s not a shot to anybody else.
It’s just I feel that everything that has happened in my career, everything’s taken place in my life, as a human, as a performer, it is all led to be in this exact spot, sitting with you right now talking about how good things just happen to work out. Life is good.
Shawn Spears Reflects On Hilarious WWE Debut
During the same interview, Shawn Spears looked back on his WWE debut opposite Shawn Michaels and Triple H at Cyber Sunday in 2006.
By the time the event rolled around the latest DX reunion between Shawn Michaels and Triple H was well underway, but The Game was looking for more from his friend. Triple H told Michaels that he wasn’t controversial enough, so Michaels decided it was time to prove a point.
An irate Michaels turned to a nearby producer who said his name was Stan and then superkicked him. HBK then set off down the corridor doing the same to everyone he saw. “Stan” was actually Spears.
The NXT star revealed that it was Michaels who decided to call him “Stan” so there wouldn’t be another Shawn in the segment.
