Ex-AEW Star To Join WWE After 3-Year Absence From Wrestling?
A forgotten former AEW star has been asked if they’d ever return to the ring to continue their career in WWE.
During Dan Lambert’s heyday with AEW, when crossover with MMA was at its highest in the company, a former UFC star graced Tony Khan’s ring.
Paige VanZant teamed with Sammy Guevara and Scorpio Sky at Double Or Nothing in May 2022 to defeat Frankie Kazarian, Sammy Guevara, and Tay Melo. Despite staying on the company’s roster for the next couple of years, it was reported in the spring of 2024 that VanZant was done with AEW and likely with wrestling altogether.
Paige VanZant Would Only Return To Wrestling In AEW
Speaking in a recent Instagram Q&A, Paige VanZant was asked if she’d ever join WWE, and admitted that if she ever got back into the world of pro wrestling, it would more likely be with Tony Khan’s company, as she had such an incredible experience with AEW:
Would I ever join the WWE? — So I’ve kind of talked about my journey with AEW, and at the time when I entered into the pro wrestling world, I wasn’t fully committed, I would say. So, I don’t know. I think if I were to go into pro wrestling, it would probably be AEW — I had an incredible experience with them, love the promotion — so I think if I go into the pro wrestling world, that’s where I would go.
Since VanZant’s time in AEW, her former company, UFC, has merged with WWE under the TKO umbrella.
