Ethan Page Breaks 9-Year WWE Record

Ethan Page WWE

One nine-year record in WWE has been smashed after Ethan Page captured the NXT Championship at Heatwave.

At Heatwave in Toronto, Trick Williams’ NXT Title reign came crashing to an end in shocking fashion in a four-way match also featuring Shawn Spears, Ethan Page, and Je’Von Evans.

Shawn Spears stopped Page from hitting his Ego’s Edge on Je’Von Evans before Trick Williams sent Evans crashing into Spears with a Trick Shot. Williams followed up with a Trick Shot on Ethan Page causing Page to fall on top of Evans while Spears dragged a helpless Williams from the ring while watching the referee count the pinfall for Page to become the new NXT Champion.

Ethan Page Breaks Kevin Owens’ WWE Record

On the 9th of July edition of NXT, the magnitude of Ethan Page’s victory came to light as announcer Vic Joseph noted that Page had broken a nine-year-old record.

Page debuted in NXT on May 28th meaning he just had to wait 40 days before winning the brand’s top title. The previous record for the quickest time to win the NXT Championship from a star’s debut was 60 days. That feat was completed by Kevin Owens who captured the NXT Title from Sami Zayn at TakeOver: Rival in February 2015.

Ethan Page was in action on the most recent edition of NXT TV as he teamed with Shawn Spears to face Trick Williams and TNA star Joe Hendry who made his not-so-surprising return to the brand.
