Potential Spoiler Regarding US Title Match At WWE Elimination Chamber

There is a potential spoiler regarding the potential outcome of the US Title match at the WWE Elimination Chamber Premium Live Event.

There will be one men’s Elimination Chamber match at the upcoming WWE Elimination Chamber PLE in Montreal on Saturday, February 18th. Instead of one of the WWE or Universal Title being on the line, they have opted for the US Title to be defended inside the ominous structure.

Austin Theory will put up the US Title against five men that won qualifying matches to get into the match: Seth “Freakin” Rollins, Bronson Reed, Johnny Gargano, Montez Ford and Damian Priest.

Since WrestleMania 39 is coming on April 1st and April 2nd, WWE obviously has some big plans in place for what’s coming at that show, so the booking of the Men’s Chamber match will be affected by that as well.

In the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer referenced the US Champion Austin Theory taping something that air after Elimination Chamber.

“Theory taped a television show that airs in March holding the U.S. title belt. That doesn’t mean 100 percent that he’s retaining it here, but it is something.”

As has reported previously, Theory facing 16-time WWE World Champion John Cena at WrestleMania 39 is all but confirmed at this point. While Theory doesn’t necessarily need the US Title for a match against Cena, he has been doing promos saying “The Champ Is Here” like Cena and WWE fans know very well that Cena often did US Title open challenges in the mid-2010s. The US Title is also the first title that Cena ever won in WWE 19 years ago.

While a US Title could win could boost the status of others in the match, since WWE had Theory film something with the US Title that will air in advance then the plan seems to be for Theory to keep the title he won at Survivor Series.

* Edge & Beth Phoenix vs. Finn Balor & Rhea Ripley

* Raw Women’s Championship #1 Contender Elimination Chamber Match: Asuka vs. Raquel Rodriguez vs. Liv Morgan vs. Nikki Cross vs. Natalya vs. Carmella
