Damian Priest Not Surprised That Unlikely WWE Pairing Works So Well

Damian Priest expected a tag team pairing to be good, but not great.

Priest and Finn Balor saw their short Tag Team Championship run come to an end at the Premium Live Event thanks to Jey Uso and Cody Rhodes. With Balor and Priest having the better tag team chemistry going into the match, many assumed that The Judgment Day would walk out with the titles.

Speaking on The Bump, Señor Money in the Bank was asked about the loss at Fastlane. Priest admitted that they may have underestimated Rhodes and Uso but it won’t happen again:

“I wouldn’t say I’m surprised, but I was surprised by the ending of it,” Priest said. “We know the type of athletes they are. They’re top of the game. They’re the top of the mountain here in the WWE. Those are two of the guys that everybody looks at as leaders, so we knew what we were in for. Just again, we were caught by surprise with a few situations and unfortunately, it happened the way it did. Them working together, maybe they worked a little bit better than we thought, but we won’t make that mistake again.”

Damian Priest And Finn Balor Get One More Opportunity

Much like Dominik Mysterio received a rematch for the North American Championship following his loss at No Mercy, Rhea Ripley has paid dividends for the faction once again. Mami revealed that Priest and Balor will have a rematch against the Tag Team Champions on the October 16th episode of WWE Raw.

Still looking for the perfect opportunity to get his title match, Damian Priest has hinted at when the cash-in will take place.
