Dakota Kai Confirms She Had “Lax Talks” With Independent Promotions Prior To WWE Return
After consistently making appearances on NXT, wrestling in main roster dark matches, and being told that she was going to be entered into the 2021 WWE Draft, Dakota Kai ultimately was released from the company on April 29, 2022.
Following the expiration of her non-compete clause, Dakota Kai remained a free agent and didn’t work at all on the independent circuit before she made her eventual return to WWE at this year’s SummerSlam Premium Live Event.
Talking with “Getting Over” during an interview, Dakota Kai gave confirmation to the fact she did talk with other promotions while being a free agent, but they never got “super far.”
“The talks never got super far, but we definitely touched base. I didn’t hear anything for a few weeks until Triple H contacted me. There were a few independent promotions here and there, but it was ‘lax talks,’ I would say. They never progressed to anything further. At that point in time, I had waited a few weeks. I think it was meant to be when Triple H called me because at that time, I felt good, I felt ready to get back in the ring and sure enough, this guy calls and wants me back. Yeah, there were talks.”
