Cody Rhodes “Very Convinced Fight Wasn’t Over” After SummerSlam
Cody Rhodes thought he was going to have a fight on his hands after defeating Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam.
The event saw the third match between the pair in as many months and would prove to be the decisive bout. Although he took a beating from The Beast Incarnate, Rhodes was able to finally put him away with three consecutive Cross Rhodes’ for the pinfall.
Afterwards, Lesnar got back to his feet and took off his gloves. Although The American Nightmare was prepared to get back into it if need be, The Conqueror instead shook his hand and the pair hugged before Lesnar raised the victor’s hand in a show of respect.
Speaking on After the Bell, Rhodes revealed that he was sure Lesnar was going to attack him again.
“The significance of 3 different matches with one of the absolute greatest of all time. The most decorated combat sport athlete in the world. It hasn’t set in. It hasn’t.
“You know, the fact that when he was taking his gloves off, looking at me, I thought for sure one’s gonna connect. I’m probably going up for an F-5.
“I was very convinced that the fight wasn’t over.”
Dana White commented on the chances of Brock Lesnar returning to UFC
With Lesnar’s rivalry with Rhodes now in the history books, there has been speculation that he could return to the octagon and sign on for another fight in UFC.
However, Dana White recently shot down that particular idea, saying in an interview that event though Lesnar “looks good”, he believes the former UFC Heavyweight Champion “is done” with the company.
