Cody Rhodes vs. Roman Reigns Promo Video Details Leaked

Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns staredown

Cody Rhodes is getting the full ‘Rocky treatment.’

At WrestleMania 40, Cody Rhodes will be looking to banish the ghosts of 2023 by finally pinning Roman Reigns to become the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion.

It’s been a long road back to the top for the American Nightmare who emerged victorious from a feud with Brock Lesnar, before winning the 2024 Royal Rumble to secure his main event match with Reigns. However, even then his spot was in jeopardy thanks to the return of The Rock, but after some backstage maneuvering, the huge rematch has finally been set.

With WrestleMania being held in Philadelphia — the home of the Rocky movie franchise, many fans have hoped there will be a tie-in between the two, and according to a new report, they will get their wish.

Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer revealed details of the promo package being produced to hype the bout. Meltzer explains that Rhodes is being positioned as a “Rocky-style underdog.”

“There is a script for a Reigns vs. Rhodes promotional video to build up WrestleMania, which tied Rhodes into Philadelphia, with the concept being here in Philadelphia we know the American Dream and we know the American Nightmare, we know good times and hard times and that being an underdog isn’t something to be feared, it’s something to be embraced.

One person got a script for a VO and noted that Rhodes in the script is going to be pushed as a Philadelphia style Rocky underdog.”

Cody Rhodes To Wrestle Twice At WrestleMania 40

At night one of the spectacular, Rhodes will team with Seth Rollins to take on The Rock and Roman Reigns. Should the former be successful, The Bloodline will be banned from ringside for his match with the Reigns, but if Rock and Reigns win, the match will be contested under Bloodline rules.

Seth Rollins has revealed he considers the match to be his first WrestleMania main event.
