Cody Rhodes May Beat John Cena With WWE Legend’s Unexpected Help

Cody Rhodes WWE Title

Cody Rhodes has his sights set on reclaiming the Undisputed WWE Championship at SummerSlam.

The American Nightmare famously “finished his story” at WrestleMania 40 by defeating Roman Reigns to become the champion.

However, his days became numbered when The Rock began stalking him, claiming to be the “Final Boss.”

The Rock’s vision of Rhodes’ downfall came to pass at the 2025 Elimination Chamber when John Cena turned heel and beat Rhodes to a pulp.

At WrestleMania 41, Cena became a record 17-time world champion.

Cody Rhodes stayed out of action for months, only to return at Saturday Night’s Main Event XXXIX to attack Cena.

In his pursuit to win his championship back, Rhodes won the King of the Ring Tournament, securing the right to challenge John Cena at SummerSlam.

The Rock Could Help Cody Rhodes Beat John Cena?

The Rock has not appeared for WWE taping since the events of the Elimination Chamber PLE.

However, a former WWE manager believes The Great One could return at SummerSlam, this time helping Rhodes topple Cena from his throne.

Dutch Mantell discussed this possibility on his podcast recently.

(The Rock) could actually turn with Cody against Cena because, you know, they’re scratching each other’s back and all this, and they got this deal beforehand that Cena knows nothing about. That might work if they plan that right. [5:45 onwards]

Whether or not Cody Rhodes turns heel at SummerSlam remains to be seen.

But WWE seemingly does not have any plans to pursue that option owing to Rhodes’ popularity among fans, which drives their merchandise and ticket sales.
