John Cena captured his 17th WWE Championship at WrestleMania 41, but immediately after his win, he only had eyes for another wrestling star.

At WrestleMania 41, John Cena defeated Cody Rhodes to win the 17th WWE Championship of his career and cement his place as the greatest of all time. But he was not the only star to make headlines on night two of WWE’s biggest show of the year.

TNA World Champion Joe Hendry shocked everyone as Randy Orton’s surprise opponent. Orton defeated Hendry and laid him out with another RKO afterwards for good measure, but Hendry made history as his ascent to the top continues. And it turns out John Cena was paying attention.

John Cena Sought Out Joe Hendry

Speaking on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Joe Hendry revealed that immediately after Cena’s historic victory, he made a beeline for Hendry backstage:

So I’m walking back from there, and at the same moment the match has just finished, John is walking back with his WWE Championship. He’s literally just become the greatest of all time. It’s now a fact he’s the greatest of all time. So he came up to me, and there’s two camera crews. They’re filming this interaction. I’m like, I can’t believe the timing that this is happening. He’s just won the championship. I say, ‘John, congrats.’

He didn’t even want to talk about the fact that he just became the greatest. He wanted to give me advice, that’s who John is, right? He just said to me, ‘I told you exactly what you needed to do at the Rumble. You’ve taken it on board. You’ve done it. You had a good performance at the Rumble. You were brilliant tonight.’ Then John walks off.

I hope they release this footage one day, I turned to the camera and I go, can a day get any better than this?

Joe Hendry will put his TNA World Championship on the line at NXT Battleground on May 25 against Trick Williams.
