Cody Rhodes Nearly Missed Major Show Due To Physical Altercation

Cody Rhodes

Cody Rhodes had an aggressive altercation on the day before one of the biggest matches of his pro wrestling career.

The All In 2018 PPV from Chicago was the brainchild of Cody Rhodes and The Young Bucks. It was an independent pro wrestling show that took place in Chicago and sold an impressive 10,000+ tickets for the show.

That show took place just a few months before Tony Khan launched AEW in January 2019, so many people believe that without All In there might not be an AEW.

Most wrestling fans who have followed Cody Rhodes’ career know about his beloved dog Pharoah. During an appearance on The Flagrant podcast, Cody told a story about how one night before All In took place, he got into a physical altercation while walking his dog.

“I got into a slight tussle the night before (All In) because I’m walking Pharaoh, my beloved husky who is always part of what I do. I had him off a leash. I was in the wrong. Pharaoh is chill. He’s not ever going to be a problem, but this man got in my face over it. ‘You shouldn’t…that’s dangerous.’ Probably right. He’s probably had a bad experience with a dog. You’re probably right.”

“Something about it, maybe I had some caffeine in my system. He got so close that I felt like he had encroached on my space. I did shove him. When I shoved him, he rolled back into the bushes. He took this enormous Homer Simpson, Peter Griffin-style fall. The next thing I knew, I was like, ‘Oh no.’ He had called the cops. I decided to stay in the lobby. I’m not going to try and run. Had he said, ‘I’m pressing charges.’ It’s over.”

“The next day was the first day in my career that I had a security detail. My wife [Brandi Rhodes], ‘You do not leave this room without this man.’ His name was Sam. ‘Sam is going everywhere with you.’ Like I was a problem child all along. It was one incident over our dog. They put me on a leash. I got to the building, but it was touch and go.”

Cody Rhodes Nearly Put To Sleep By Gunther Before WWE Crown Jewel

On the final episode of WWE SmackDown before Crown Jewel, the Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes & Randy Orton teamed up to defeat World Heavyweight Champion Gunther & Ludwig Kaiser. Cody got the win for his team when he hit Kaiser with Cross Rhodes.

After the match, Kevin Owens went into the ring with a steel chair and hit Orton in the knee. Owens also hit Orton in the back with a steel chair. Rhodes looked at Owens, so Gunther applied the dreaded sleeper hold on Cody to try to make Cody pass out. The WWE Officials and referees went out to ringside to try to stop it while Cody was trying to fight it. SmackDown ended with Cody looking like he would pass out in Gunther’s sleeper hold.

At WWE Crown Jewel, Cody Rhodes will face Gunther for the first-ever WWE Crown Jewel Championship while reminding people to keep their dog on a leash just in case.
