Cody Rhodes Angry At Brandi Rhodes’ Treatment In AEW
Cody Rhodes has come to the defence of his wife Brandi.
In February 2022, Cody Rhodes shocked the world when it was announced he and his wife Brandi would be leaving AEW — the company the pair helped create three years earlier. A little over a month later Rhodes was back in a WWE ring, defeating Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 38.
Despite Rhodes now being a key figure in WWE, he hasn’t forgotten the negative comments made about Brandi when the pair left AEW.
Speaking during a recent interview with Ariel Helwani, Rhodes said he’s still “p*ssed off” with how she was treated.
“That woman got hugely scapegoated, and hugely… just misinformation, Everyone involved knows who they are and if ever there was a moment for her to feel like a princess and feel like somebody who did a lot more for wrestling — there’s so many people working at AEW who, she was the one who said their name. She was the one who wanted to keep them in the fold when something went wrong.
For how she was treated after the departure — and this is not by any company, just in general, it p*sses me off to this day.
She had a great experience last year at WrestleMania, she felt that love again. [Rhodes gets choked up] I look forward to that because I could not do this without her. I couldn’t play this game.”
Cody Rhodes Disagrees With CM Punk On AEW
During the same interview, Cody Rhodes broke down why he disagrees with CM Punk’s negative comments on AEW. The American Nightmare said he was proud of what he helped create alongside Tony Khan, Kenny Omega, and The Young Bucks, adding that he wishes those involved nothing but the best.
In his own interview with Helwani, CM Punk claimed AEW wasn’t a business, admitting his time with the company was mixed to say the least. Punk also denied claims by Tony Khan that he made the AEW boss fear for his life during the altercation at All In that ultimately led to him being fired.
