CM Punk Wants Shawn Michaels’ Job In WWE
CM Punk could have long-term ambitions to be part of WWE long after his own in-ring career has ended.
CM Punk shocked the world when he returned to WWE at Survivor Series almost a decade after he walked out of the company. His return also came less than three months after CM Punk was very publicly fired by AEW for his part in a backstage altercation with Jack Perry at All In.
Punk told the world that he was “home” now that he was back in WWE and it could very well be the case. The former WWE Champion has attended the Performance Center where he was said to be “holding court” with some of WWE’s young up-and-coming stars.
CM Punk Targets Shawn Michaels’ Role In WWE
Ibou of WrestlePurists has reported that CM Punk’s long-term goal now that he is back in WWE is to succeed Shawn Michaels in NXT. He noted that Punk didn’t sleep after Raw and flew straight to Orlando where he observed the NXT taping and how the production of the show worked.
Shawn Michaels began working with NXT in 2016 as a coach before taking on a writing and producing role on the brand in 2018. In 2022, Michaels’ job title in WWE was confirmed to be Senior Vice President of Talent Development Creative giving him ultimate oversight on NXT.
