CM Punk Has “Repeatedly” Told AEW He Wants To Come Back
CM Punk wants to return to AEW according to a new report and the star is open to several scenarios that would see that happen.
Punk has not been seen in AEW since All Out in September 2022 when he recaptured the AEW World Championship from Jon Moxley. Punk, however, lashed out at colleagues at the post-show press conference was followed by a backstage fight with The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega with suspensions handed out and championships vacated as a result.
With time said to be a great healer, it looks like CM Punk wants to come back to wrestling. Fightful Select has reported that Punk has “communicated repeatedly to AEW” that he wants to return.
In addition, it is noted that Punk has laid out different plans for that to happen, including a willingness to do business with Omega and The Bucks. Although it is also stated that as of a few months ago, The Elite was not keen on that happening and it is unknown if they have changed their stance.
CM Punk has also said that he could return and work entirely separately from The Elite if required. Some talent in the company had noted that the rumoured Saturday show could lead to some separation of the roster which could allow Punk’s and The Elite’s paths not to cross on a weekly basis.
Should an AEW return not materialise, the report ends by noting that Punk is open to working elsewhere. Whether that means still under Tony Khan’s umbrella as part of Ring of Honor or means a move to New Japan Pro Wrestling or even a staggering return to WWE is yet unknown.
Dax Harwood recently pitched a match for All In at Wembley Stadium with FTR teaming with CM Punk to take on The Elite and noted himself that Punk is keen to get back to wrestling.
