CM Punk Provides Health Update Ahead Of AEW Return

CM Punk

All of the talking is just hours away from coming to an end as CM Punk will make his long-awaited return to AEW on the debut edition of Collision in his hometown of Chicago, Illinois.

CM Punk has not been seen in AEW since All Out 2022 where he won the AEW World Championship but was almost immediately stripped of it following his backstage fight with The Elite after the show.

While speculation has run rampant over Punk’s future in the company ever since what has often been overlooked is the fact that he tore his triceps in his title match against Jon Moxley which would have resulted in him missing a lot of time from the ring no matter what.

Speaking to ESPN in an explosive interview ahead of his return to the company where he opened up about his issues with Hangman Adam Page and what he told Tony Khan about his wild media scrum appearance after All Out, the former WWE Champion also gave an update on his health:

“I think, in wrestling, we always kind of joke how we always get hurt doing the dumb stuff. Fall off a 15-foot ladder through a table and you’re fine and you’re running 6 miles the next day and you’re in the gym. And then it’s just always the dumb little things, like some routine thing that I’ve done a thousand times in my career, and it injures you. And then just the mental aspect of this recovery, it has not been easy.

“Luckily, I’ve got a really good support system, my wife [AJ Lee] and [dog] Larry, and I’ve got great friends and a super great rehab team that was able to get me back this quickly even though it doesn’t feel – it feels like it was 12 years ago.”

In his first match back in an AEW ring in nine months, CM Punk will team with AEW Tag Team Champions FTR to take on Samoa Joe, Juice Robinson, and Jay White.
