CM Punk Makes Honest Confession About WWE Retirement Plans
CM Punk is getting real about his imminent retirement from wrestling.
The former world champion is turning 47 on October 26. Also, one of his close friends, John Cena, has 4 dates remaining on his retirement tour, which will be followed by AJ Styles calling it quits next year.
Recently, Japanese star Shinsuke Nakamura, too, spoke about retiring.
CM Punk left WWE at the peak of his popularity in 2014 and did not wrestle for seven years before joining AEW in 2021.
He also tried his hand at MMA, competing in two UFC matches and losing both, although one of the results was overturned due to the opponent testing positive for banned substances.
Punk returned to the Stamford promotion in 2023 and has maintained his position at the top by being involved in high-profile storylines.
He will be next seen challenging Jey Uso for the vacant World Heavyweight Championship at Saturday Night’s Main Event XLI on November 1.
Amid his second stint with WWE, CM Punk recently made an honest confession about his retirement.
CM Punk Admits To Being Near His Wrestling Career’s End
Several WWE stars were recently a part of the promotion’s Australia and Japan tour, and CM Punk was one of them.
In a vlog, Punk admitted that he is nearing the end of his time in wrestling, while referencing the career projections of John Cena and AJ Styles.
So I’m standing here now, near the end of my career. You know, John Cena’s calling it quits, AJ Styles says he’s going to retire next year, and I don’t know how much time I’ve got left. I’m going to keep going until the wheels fall off.
I know that’s sooner rather than later. That’s why I think it’s important, for all of us, not just me, to celebrate every wrestler as they retire. There’s a whole new generation of talent coming in to take our place, and in a way, we’re excited to see that happen. [H/T: Ringside News]
