CM Punk Crowns New NXT Champion
CM Punk was the man to count the fall to crown a new NXT Champion on the first edition of NXT on the CW Network.
Ethan Page escaped from No Mercy with his NXT Title intact after defeating TNA star Joe Hendry. The match had former champion Trick Williams acting as the special guest referee with Williams forced to count the pinfall for Page.
Williams earned his chance to meet Page for the title once again when he defeated Pete Dunne in a last man standing match and on the premiere edition of NXT on the CW Network, Trick Williams got that match.
However, there was a small caveat to the bout after CM Punk revealed that he would be the special referee in his home city of Chicago.
CM Punk Raises Trick Williams’ Hand As New NXT Champion
On the 1st of October edition of NXT, Trick Williams and Ethan Page battled with CM Punk as the man in the middle with the crowd firmly behind the challenger.
Ethan Page sought to raise the ire of Punk as he delivered a Go 2 Sleep on Williams but the challenger kicked out at two. Page tried for his Ego’s Edge but after Williams escaped that, he nailed the champion with his Trick Kick and CM Punk counted to three as a new NXT Champion was crowned.
After the match, CM Punk sent a message to Ethan Page as he dropped him with a Go 2 Sleep for good measure.
